The zoo

On a hot Wednesday morning, my class and I went to Hamilton zoo for the day.
We had to earn this trip by getting all the marbles in the jar.
When we got there, the first thing we saw were the hairy brown monkeys and they were cute. They were jumping on the silver fence and the thick grey ropes.

We saw the deer. There were two fighting with their antlers. It was funny. It looked like we were watching wrestling.
When we went in to the bird enclosure, we saw a green bird. It was as small as a mouse, and we nearly touched it.
Finally, we went to the Education classroom to learn about animals. In the classroom there was a dead crocodile, a dead tarantula and tiger skin.
I want to go to the zoo again. It is fun.

Tiger Chasing

One winter morning, Jack and his family went to the zoo for a day.
The first thing they saw, were the white striped tigers. When the zoo keeper came out of the cage, he forgot to shut the gate and a white striped tiger came rushing out and chased Jack. Every time it leaped, it was holding its sharp claws up in the air. The tiger was leaping and running its hardest but it couldn't get Jack because Jack was too fast.
When his Mum and Dad saw the tiger chasing Jack, they were shocked. They screamed with terror. They ran to a zoo keeper and asked him to get some nice juicy meat to stop the tiger chasing Jack.
He grabbed some meat and threw it to the tiger. The tiger suddenly stopped when the meat landed right on its head. He flicked it off and started to eat the meat then the zoo keeper put it to sleep with a tranquilizer gun.
The zoo keeper struggled to take it into its cage so he called for other zoo keepers to help him then Jack thanked the zoo keeper and he asked if he could go home. When he got home, he said to his mum, "I don't want to go near the tigers again," and he told her the whole story.

The Market

It was a hot Sunday morning. My family and I went to the market.
When we got to the Te Rapa Market, I was so excited. Mum said there was only food there, so we went to the Rototuna Market. This one was bigger and better.
When we walked in, it was amazing. We saw Mum's friend, Amanda, then we saw this lady doing this thing with three sticks. She was good. She was spinning the sticks around. The colours of the sticks were red and blue.
We looked around but there was nothing else to buy so we went home and played out side.
I want to go to the market again.

Action World

It was a windy Tuesday afternoon. My family and I went to Action World.

When we got there, it looked amazing. We saw about fifteen things that I would like to go on.
There was a big slide. There were some silver rings that looked like monkey bars. We were pestering Mum and Dad to go to Action World and they said yes.
I was so excited. We paid at the rocky counter.
The first thing we had to go on was the giant slide. I got up the slippery steps. I was so nervous. I went down the slide. It felt like I had butterflies in my stomach.
I went up the steep jump and jumped off. I was 3 metres high. I went down onto the soft landing pad. I bit my tongue. My eyes watered like crazy.
I want to go to Action World again. It is awesome.

El Grego Poem

Bullying is mean.
Why don't bullies stop?
People don't like it, so stop.
When people start crying
The bully starts laughing.
Just tell a teacher
That's the best idea.
How do people become bullies?
God made them nice
So stick up for yourself and tell a teacher.
Stop it. That's horrible.
I don't like it.
If I bullied you
You wouldn't like it.
No I don't like it.
Stop it.
If I bullied you
You wouldn't like it.
No one likes it.
Stop.
Bullies are mean.
Stop it, bullies.
No one likes it.
It feels like I'm dead in my head.

Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday, we got up at 6.50 in our warm cozy pj's looking for delicious Easter Eggs that the Easter Bunny gave us.
When we had the Easter Egg hunt, I was running around the house like a rocket, looking for the little chocolate bars. I tripped myself up when I was running. I hit the wall. I found three little Easter eggs on the freezer and on the brown dining room table. My brother, Nat, was running around, looking for all the big Easter Eggs. He found three pink and yellow lollipops and three big marshmallow Easter Eggs then we asked Mum if we could eat the big Easter Eggs and and the little chocolate bars and she said yes. Easter was fun.
It was funny because six days before Easter, Nana gave us a big chocolate bunny and 6 big Easter Eggs. Nixon and I were allowed to eat the chocolate bunny’s  ears two days before Easter.

That was a cool Easter.

Holy Thursday Liturgy

Holy Thursday Liturgy

It was now the time of Passover. Jesus’ followers came to Him and said, “We will go and prepare everything for the Passover Feast. Where do you want to eat the feast?” Jesus answered, “Go into the city. A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. He will go into a house. Tell the owner of the house, “The teacher wants you to prepare the room for the Passover meal.” So the followers left and went into the city and prepared the Passover Feast.
In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve. While they were eating, Jesus took the bread and gave God thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you.”

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave God thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

After some time, Jesus got up from the table and went to a different part of the room.  He put a large towel around him, making himself look like a servant.  After that, he poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the disciples' feet.  He then dried them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

When Jesus had finished washing all of the disciples’ feet, he returned to the table.  "Do you understand what I have done for you?"  Jesus asked them.
Jesus is like a King - but even greater than a king, He's the King of Kings!  By washing the disciples’ feet, He was doing something that only a servant would do.
This is an example of how you should treat others.  You don't have to actually wash other people's feet, but do kind things to others and act like a servant for Jesus.

Live Simply Day

Today is Live Simply Day. We live a Live Simply Day so that we can stand in solidarity with the poor people in our world. To  live simply means to have no computers, ipads and white boards and to go without sweet food.

Hot Air Balloon

Today we saw a hot air balloon at St Paul’s School.
The colour was red, yellow, orange and pink.
The pilot and his crew blew the hot air balloon up with a ginormous fan. The fan made a buzzing sound.
My friends and I waited in line until it was our turn. Once it was our turn, we hopped into the basket using a little step in the basket.
In the air, all the people looked like tiny ants. When we went in the big hot air balloon, we made the penguin skydive. The penguin was hanging from a rope.
We thought the penguin was skydiving off the basket so he could learn to fly.
When we landed, there was a loud thump! and the poor old penguin got squashed.

Ash Wednesday

Symbols of the Holy Spirit

Other symbols of the Holy Spirit are oil, water and the dove.

Swimming Sports

Yesterday, our school had our swimming sports at the Ngaruawahia Town Pools.
The first race we did was freestyle.
When we hopped in the freezing water, I was jumping around like a kangaroo. I was nervous. I thought I was going to lose then Mr K blew his whistle. I swam as  fast as I could. When I reached the end, the lady gave me a thing that said first. I was proud of myself because I came first.
